This was an eight-team mini-tournament consisting of two groups of four teams, playing matches of 14 minutes duration…the top two teams in each set then going on to the knock-out stage. Unfortunately Tod were drawn in the stronger grouping - which was a shame because they had previously beaten all the teams in the other group – and with some degree of comfort. Still, in order to win... Read More
Having sealed the league title yesterday I am sure everyone was wondering whether the lads would be up for this game or not. A 4-0 victory over a strong Warley Blues is a pretty clear answer to that question as Tod closed out their league campaign and their season with a good home victory. Read More
After losing all your hard earned cash on the National, there's nothing better than an early morning game of Sunday junior football to make you forget (if the beer hasn't already). Just ask Lee ! If he didn't have a headache before the game, he probably did afterwards as Tod made hard work of beating Crossley Juniors 2-1. Read More
After the disappointment of going out of the Cup last week, it was important that the Tod lads got back to winning ways right away and there is no better way to do that than with a 5-1 victory over one of the strongest teams in the league. The lads proved again that they are going to battle all the way in their bid to win the league title and I certainly wouldn't bet against them achieving... Read More
As I arrived at Park Lane today, I thought it must be my lucky day because as I drove round a packed car park and started my way back towards the exit, there it was, a space ! So I parked up and started walking down the path to the playing fields and as we rounded the corner nearly got blown over (and considering my size that would have been some gust). In fact, it was that windy I thought I... Read More
Tod Sports U10's proved their quality once again with a great display against league and cup rivals Northowram Juniors in a 4-0 home league win at Ferney Lee today. Whilst the result by no means settles the league title it certainly gives Tod a slight advantage over both Northowram Juniors and Warley Blues in the run in and means that Tod are now the only team remaining unbeaten in the... Want the chance to play for Tod Sports U11's next season?
If you are interested in joining & playing for the must succesful team in the Calderdale League in this age group then why not contact next seasons U11 Manager Lee Pearson on 07976 826 870 to find out more.
We arn't just a very successful team, we have a great group of lads who play the game in the right spirit and are gracious in both victory and defeat. Our Manager Lee and Assistant Manager Mark put in a tremendous amount of effort and dedication to teach the lads the right way to play football. This has led to a great deal of success over the past 4 seasons and we hope to continue this success in the future. However, much more importantly we want all the lads who play for us, and their parents, to have fun and enjoy turning out for the team week in week out. As U11's the boys move from playing 7 a-side on a junior pitch to playing 11 a side on a full size pitch and so we are looking for new players to join our current squad of players, so don't delay, give Lee a ring to find out more and why not take a look through our teams pages on the website by clicking here.
TSC Under 7’s – Live at Shay Stadium (... not the same one as The Beatles played!!)
Jason and I were asked in mid April to nominate three teams we had played against this season as our votes for the Calderdale League Under 7’s Fair Play Award. Each year teams are chosen from the Under 7’s and Under 8’s teams in Calderdale to play at The Shay (home of AFC Halifax Town) in Halifax as part of the Cup Finals Day.
One of the teams we picked for our vote was Ryburn Blacks. We thought they had been a great advert for Under 7’s football when had met at Todmorden in February. They had played bravely and fairly (as all the teams we have met this season) and we had really enjoyed our encounter with them for the great spirit in which they played that game and also the way their supporters had cheered them on.
We were absolutely delighted to find out that they been chosen to play in the Under 7’s Fair Play Match at The Shay in Halifax as part of the cup finals day held by Calderdale each year. We were even more honoured to find that we had also been chosen by other team managers to play in the same game. So with much excitement we all met at the Shay on Saturday 2nd May 2009 to reach the latest high in our recent football journey.
Todays 4-1 away victory against Ryburn saw the U10's seal the Calderdale U10 Division 1 league title. If any of the lads had any lingering nerves then they certainly didn't show it and played a perfect game in the circumstances. However, they should all stay off the beer tonight as they have a tough game tomorrow against Warley Blues and by avoiding defeat they can round off a terrific league campaign by being the only team in the top division of any age group in the Calderdale league to finish the complete league campaign unbeaten.
For Jason and I it has been an absolute pleasure to see the improvement of the Under 7’s team in the six months we have all been together. All the lads have listened to our advice and put into practice the skills we have worked on as a team. They have always tried hard during the games to listen to the cacophony of noise from the sidelines and tried to understand what we have meant by ‘mark-up’ or ‘get tight’ when for many of them it has seemed like a foreign language we are speaking.
We really can now see the fruits of their hard work coming through in the style of football we play and in our last two games against Elland and Greetland at times it has been ‘just like watching Brazil’.
They have all turned up for training on Saturday mornings with a smile and a giggle, even if by the end there have been some tears shed and a few harsh words said to each other and even these have soon been forgotten.
By way of a thank you from Jason and I and also as a means of introduction to those reading about our exploits please find below our list of star players and what they have achieved so far.
It was only a matter of time before he made it into the big time, but finally Frank Lampard had the honour of playing against Tod Sports U9's ! (or more acturately just one of them)
Our very own Lee Broadbent from the U9's was lucky enough to spend the day with Frank Lampard at the FA Tesco Skills Workshop. Congratulations to Lee for winning his way through for what I am sure was a memorable day. You can read the full story by following this link to the Halifax Courier.
